Make Music Day
- This event has passed.
This new, free, grassroots, all-inclusive music festival brings amateur & professional musicians together every June 21 for a world-wide musical celebration. New to Durham, it includes all ages, abilities, musical styles, and neighborhoods.
As the central location for Durham’s first annual Make Music Day, Durham Central Park will feature an 8 p.m. Sunset Jam, open to all instruments and singers. Prior to that, there will be bands as well as open gatherings of guitars, ukes, and walk-up circles of various musical styles, as well as other performances at 9 p.m. Go to www.makemusicday.org/durham for the latest schedule.
Not run by the city or an agency, this do-it-yourself event relies on an online matchmaking functionality to register those who want to play and those who want to host a gathering. Who wants to play at lunch hour or in late afternoon? Sign up at https://matchdurham.makemusicday.org
