Free Painting Workshop For Teens: Transformation

Durham-based, self-taught artist Gemynii leads a free painting workshop for teens (13-19 year olds) of all skill levels, focusing on the power of transformation. Presented in partnership with the LGBTQ Center of Durham. All materials provided.
She also is a poet, activist, community organizer and 1st place winner of the 63rd annual (2017) The Durham Art Guild Juried Art Exhibit. Gemynii creates paintings focused mainly on abstract portraits and figures of people of color and is influenced heavily by social issues, music, body and gender acceptance, and the Black experience. Later tonight, come to Durham Central Park for a free all-ages dance party featuring DJ collective Mamis & the Papis. Gemynii will create a brand new painting on the spot, in the moment, inspired by the summer, Durham, DJ culture or tonight’s beautiful crowd.
