Join The Clearing for a special observance and block party on Sunday, June 30th, at 7 pm at the Pavilion at Durham Central Park!! We’re thrilled that the amazing Gemynii will be our DJ for the evening! In between sets we will dedicate some time with silence and readings to reflect on our trancestors and queer ancestors who took part in the Stonewall riots.

The Stonewall riots’ impact on the lives of our people, from the six days of protests and clashes with police in 1969, to current conversations about the policing of our queer and trans bodies, has been immense and intense. We cannot forget the people who said NO MORE that fateful night in June, and we can (and should) hold space for what it means that we are still here — fighting, hoping, and praying for better days for queer and trans folks all over the country and the world, and especially here in Durham and our neighboring cities.

This event is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, alcohol-free and welcoming of families. Please feel free to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs if you like. The space is wheel chair accessible and we will provide a limited amount of chairs. Please contact us if you have any questions and we look forward to you joining us!
